Students from five universities in Metro Manila voted former senator and disaster management head Richard ‘Dick Gordon” as their top pick in a mock election exercise organized by the UP Journalism Club in Diliman, Quezon City.
The polls were spearheaded by the University of the Philippines’ Department of Journalism and ran between Feb. 22 to March 2. Students from Far Eastern University (FEU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU), University of Sto. Tomas (UST) and the University of the Philippines, Diliman participated in the activity. A total of 1,072 students participated.
Interaksyon.com reported that Gordon’s “visibility in disaster relief operations as chair of the Philippine Red Cross” as the reason for him winning the mock elections.
Gordon, who initiated reforms as the former administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, is running for a Senate seat under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
