Some P2.65 million worth of illegally sourced software were recovered by police operatives yesterday from several Metro Manila stores of a popular software and gaming store.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group swooped down on the biggest outlets of DataBlitz outlets and seized packs of the new NBA 2K13 game, which is exclusively distributed in the country by X-Play.
In their complaint, X-Play Online Games stressed that they are the only ones licensed to distribute Blizzard and NBA computer gaming titles in the Philippines. They stressed that they have not tapped DataBlitz to sell the said items for them.
Police had search warrants to raid the following DataBlitz branches: Megamall, Market! Market!, Robinson’s Galleria, Rockwell Power Plant, Greenbelt, Expo Exchange, Virra Mall Greenhills, and Robinson’s Magnolia, among others.
Police stressed that the seized goods from DataBlitz are neither counterfeits nor fakes; they were just being sold without permission from the rightful distributors, Interaksyon.com reported.
