A Manila regional trial court has dismissed the disqualification case against former President Joseph Estrada who is running for the Mayoral post in the city of Manila.
Estrada’s lawyer, former solicitor general Frank Chavez, made the announcement on Wednesday after Presiding Judge Marivic Balisi-Umali of the Manila RTC Branch 20 issued the ruling.
According to the court, the former President’s full civil and political rights were restored after he was granted pardon by ex President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Estrada was able to serve six years in detention on charges of plunder, Interaksyon.com reported.
