According to Interaksyon, some officers lighted some of the illegal firecrackers that they confiscated from vendors last year. Responding to this, Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima said last Tuesday that they will look into this and that policemen who are found guilty may get fired. “I have ordered the identification of the police personnel involved in lighting the seized firecrackers,” he said.
Purisima added that they had already briefed the policemen on how to destroy the firecrackers they confiscated: by soaking them with water and not by lighting them. Duh.
