Coming soon: Mobile, Wi-Fi services on air

More good news for airline passengers. You can soon update your FB, twitter and Instagram accounts while you’re on board a Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane.

The company’s flag carrier will soon be adding Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir to its list of features.

According to Interaksyon.com, the Airbus A330-343s and Boeing B777-300ERs will be retrofitted starting next month and that the global GSM and Wi-Fi services will be launched by mid-year.

In 2012, Cebu Pacific also commissioned the Geneva-based OnAir to provide Wi-Fi service to their Airbus A330 fleet. Reports said they are also planning to install Wi-Fi on its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, which are used for short haul flights.
