Christmas Day fire in QC caused by electricity overload, not sky lantern

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has come out with its verdict ruling out sky lanterns as the cause of the fire in Barangay Bungad, Quezon City on Christmas Day, which was actually caused by an electrical overload and claimed seven lives.

Nevertheless, the BFP is still recommending that sky lanterns should be banned as they still pose as fire hazards.

Interaksyon.com cited BFP records to show a drop in fires caused by fireworks this year, to only three compared to 10 in December 2010 and 8 in December 2011.
