Three separate killing incidents in Quezon City on Christmas Day resulted in the death of four people.
In Barangay Holy Spirit, Esteban Calbario Esmer and his nephew, Jayson Yago Esmer, were shot multiple times by a masked man wearing a pink jacket as they were celebrating with relatives outside their house on Kasiyahan St. Stray bullets also struck Jayson Esmer’s mother, Marilyn, and another relative, Monica Reyes.
Both men died while under treatment at Malvar General Hospital and the East Avenue Medical Center. Marilyn Esmer was confined at the East Avenue Medical Center and Monica Reyes was quickly discharged after treatment.
The motive behind the killing is still unknown.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Sta. Lucia a long time conflict between distant relatives Danilo Castro and Froilan de los Santos was once more resurrected and had the two men engaging in a physical fight which ended in the death of Castro as de los Santos stabbed him twice with a knife.
De los Santos surrendered to authorities, while Castro was taken to the FEU hospital and died under treatment.
Finally, in Barangay Payatas, Federico Cabrega was found dead at a well near his home, where he regularly takes his bath.
Cabrega was found by his wife, Marites, with multiple stabbings and his head whacked, at a spot about 100 meters from the well.
PO2 Anthony Tejerero reported that Cabrega was a police informer regarding a drug syndicate in the area and his latest job allegedly did not go well, which is assumed to be the motive behind the killing, Inquirer News reported.
