A 34-year-old Chinese businessman was shot in broad daylight yesterday after withdrawing P800,000 from the bank.
The killer did not even try to hide his identity as he was not wearing any mask or cover up when he shot Kelvin Tan, owner of KT Builders, in front of a manpower agency office at Ortigas Avenue in Greenhills at around 10:20 a.m.
Tan was in the driver’s seat of his car when he was shot twice at the left side. He died instantly.
The Philippine Star reported that the bank security guard witnessed the incident and described the shooter as a bearded man, about 5’7” tall, clad in a violet barong. The witness claimed he saw the shooter climb on to Honda Wave motorcycle, with a “for registration” license plate, before taking off.
The victim was said to have handed the money he withdrew from the China Bank branch to one of the bodyguards of Benedict Tan, his supposed best friend. The transaction took place at a coffee shop near the bank and the office of Heavylift Manila Inc.
