Bootleg firework blast rocks Sampaloc, no one hurt

A bootleg firework explosion in an abandoned building scared residents of Sampaloc, Manila last night.

The Explosive Ordnance Division of the Manila Police District said the 9pm explosion at a building on the corner of Loyal and Recto streets came from a mixture of gunpowder typically used in fireworks and firecrackers.

Apparently the gunpowder mixture was placed inside a concret plant box which caused debris to be scattered around the area.

No one was reported hurt or killed in the blast.

Witnesses said that they saw a group of men drinking in the area before the explosion, ABS-CBN reported.
