Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman is encouraging residents to ride bikes and wants government employees to serve as a good example.
On Tuesday, the Mayor urged the city’s government employees to avail of the Bike Loan program so majority of them could purchase bikes and ride them to and from work.
According to Memorandum Circular No. 00-3-13, a city government employee may borrow up to PHP 5,000 to procure a bike and other biking safety gear. The loan assistance will be extended to casual, contractual, project based and even service volunteer workers.
The loan payments will be deducted from the employee’s salary for a period of six months, the Manila Bulletin reported.
