The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has issued a warning to foreigners living in the Philippines to refrain from engaging in partisan politics, campaigning or supporting any political candidate financially this coming May elections.
Reports said the BI will investigate cases of foreigners becoming involved in this year’s elections. If proven guilty, violators will be arrested, jaild and then deported for meddling with the country’s political affairs.
BI acting intelligence chief Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said contributions from foreign nationals or their businesses will give candidates an unfair advantage over their opponents, the Journal reported.
