Trust me, they’re not your friendly, neighborhood spidermen.
Authorities are warning the public against the modus operandi of groups of men called “Gagamba Boys” or spidermen, who are victimizing innocent motorists passing by the area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.
Police Chief Inspector Noelito Miranda of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Landside Security Patrol Station called the public’s attention to be careful about leaving their windows and car doors open. He also warned against giving alms to beggars because these men take advantage of motorists who open their windows even just a few inches.
The group of men, normally 7 to 10 in number, literally hang all over your car and refuse to let go until they are given more money. ABS CBN reports that they also scratch cars and leave dents.
Police Chief Miranda advises motorists to keep all car doors and windows shut and to report any encounters with the “Gagamba Boys” to the authorities.
