Police authorities are urging the public to be extra careful as fake PHP1000 bills are said to be proliferating in Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, and the Southern Tagalog Region.
According to ABS CBN News, the fake bills have been going around the cities for over three months.
Pasay Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Llorca said they were able to arrest 7 alleged members of a money counterfeiting syndicate on March 4. Recovered from the suspects were 90 pieces of fake PHP1000 bills.
PNP Spokesman Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr. urged the public to report counterfeit bills to telephone numbers 7255115 or 7253179, by email at pio@pnp.gov.ph, or through PNP Hotline “I-TEXT MO KAY TSIP” 0917-8475757 and PNP TXT 2920.
