Keep the elevator shoes on…
The bill to scrap the height requirements for police, fire, and jail management personnel has been vetoed by President Benigno Aquino III.
A Philippine Star report quoted Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Abigail Valte as saying that existing law allows a waiver for this, but only under special conditions.
More importantly, the President said that because of the physical nature of their work, service personnel must have the necessary physical attributes to dispense their duties effectively.
The current minimum requirement for a male applicant for any of the three service bureaus is 5’4, and 5’2 for females.
