Almost half a billion pesos worth of illegal drugs confiscated from different ports

Customs Commissioner Rozzano Rufino Biazon reported that P462.7 million worth of illegal drugs and other chemicals used in the manufacturing of these have been seized from various airports and seaports around the country.

This is the biggest drug confiscation the government has ever done since 2010, and is more than ten times bigger than last year’s haul of P42.4 million. In 2010, government was also able to seize P265.93 million worth of shabu.

About 15 foreigners who have attempted to smuggle drugs into the country have been arrested throughout the year.

Biazon has urged customs frontline personnel to be vigilant about drug smuggling attempts into the country in order to protect the lives of Filipino youth, the Philippine Star reported.
