For those who want to go to outer space, here’s good news for you. Axe Philippines has just started a competition where the winner will get a chance to fly to outer space! Called the Axe Apollo Space Academy, it aims to send a lucky Pinoy winner to outer space onboard the Space Expedition Corporation SXC-001.
According to GMA News, the creation of the Axe Apollo Space Academy and their agreement to send the first Pinoy into space, was announced by astronaut Buzz Aldrin at an affair at the Museum of Natural History in New York. There will be 22 slots for participants to be screened from over 60 countries.
A Filipino is already assured of a slot on the AASA. Among Filipino contestants, two winners will join the AASA and one of them will be flying to outer space. Buzz Aldrin is the second man on the moon. He joined the AASA program because he wanted ordinary people to experience space flight.
The SXC is a space tourism company, one of only a handful such companies in the world. The astronaut will be going up to 103 kilometers (338,000 feet) out to space, where they will be able to experience the blue sky turn to black as well as see the curvature of the earth. The SXC-001 will climb to altitude on its own power and after some maneuvering at its more than 100 kilometers high, it will come back to earth at a leisurely glide.
