A few days after the 60-kph speed limit coverage in Commonwealth Avenue was expanded, authorities have already arrested 328 motorists for overspeeding.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic discipline office head Yves Gonzalez reported that the number of violators have been increasing since the speed limit coverage was extended last Tuesday.
The 60-kph speed limit used to just cover Philcoa to Batasan. However, it was expanded to cover an extra 2.3 kilometers, up to Doña Carmen Avenue.
Commonwealth is a 12.4-km which has multiple lanes. It has been called the “killer highway” due to the number of lives it claims each year, Inquirer News reported.
