27 San Beda law students expelled over hazing

A total of 27 law students and members of the Lex Leonum Fraternitas from San Beda College have been expelled for their involvement in the hazing and death of freshman Marc Andre Marcos in July.

The decision was issued on Oct. 24 and signed by Dean Virigilio Jara. The school likewise suspended eight other students, five of whom were neophytes initiated at the same time as the victim. San Beda meted out a lighter sentence because they later renounced their membership and cooperated with the authorities during the investigation.

Interaksyon.com identified the expelled students as:

1. Alano, Erich Justine

2. Alcancia, Julius Arsenio

3. Alim, Mohammad Fyzee

4. Amante, Chino Daniel

5. Baltazar, Daniel

6. Cabangon, Rem

7. Cabansag, Manuel Adrian

8. Circa, Dexter

9. David, Aldrian Robert

10. Dela Cruz, Aardan Mikhail Kutch

11. Esguerra, Jason

12. Favorito, Bjone Carlo

13. Juico, Ralph

14. Lalusis, Levy John

15. Marcelo, Cornelio

22. Rosales, Richard

23. Samson, Vyron

24. Santiago, Emmanuel Jefferson

25. Tan, Idony

26. Villanueva, Jenno Antonio

27. Yebra, Aloysius

According to the decision, San Beda College imposed the maximum administrative sanction of exclusion to the students because of “moral depravity so grave as to be beyond redemption.”

Freshman Marc Andre Marcos died last July 30 from the injuries he sustained during the fraternity’s initiation rites. In February, freshman Marvin Reglos also died while being initiated into the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.
