1 dead and 4 wounded from gang wars in the Metro

The new year was welcomed in Paranaque and Pasay with two separate gang wars that left one dead while four others were taken to hospitals for treatment.

According to the Inquirer, rival gangs in Don Carlos Village in Pasay City had a face-off at 2 a.m. of Jan. 1 after two minor members of one gang were beaten up by members of the opposing gang. As the two called for back-up, they were met by gunfire from a homemade gun, which caused serious injuries to both.

In Baclaran, Paranaque, four men on two motorcycles fired at three gang members at 4 a.m. of Tuesday along Pinaglabanan St.

The two wounded men, Mark Santy L. Carolino and Gladize A. Arabia, were taken to the hospital for treatment while the other, Reno F. Ladiguhon, was pronounced dead.

Authorities suspect that this was a gang-related incident which has been going on in the area for a year. The suspects are still at large.
