Looks like our internet speed, or the lack of it, isn’t such a big deal when it comes to streaming videos.
At the heels of Hooq, launched late in February this year, comes iflix, an internet TV service in Southeast Asia that boasts of over 10,000 hours of videos: movies, television shows, candy eye, the works.
Launched in Metro Manila on May 27, it gives registered users access to iflix’s library that, yep, contains over 10,000 hours of entertainment. Users can register up to five devices per account, which means you can watch that movie however whenever which way you please: on your phone, laptop, tablet, desktop, and even on your TV.
Subscription to iflix, priced at PHP129 a month, is also slightly cheaper than Hooq, which is at PHP199 a month. For commitment phobes, you can also cancel your subscription at anytime.
Some titles in iflix’s library include: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Friends, The Godfather trilogy, Dr. Who, The Dark Knight. Pretty cool no? That’s because iflix, which is available in Malaysia and Philippines, have deals with Warner Bros, BBC Worldwide, Twentieth Century Fox, and others.
They say there will be local content here, too, but so far, no exact word yet on which titles or production companies or studios are in it with iflix.
In case you’re not yet sold with any of the above reasons, here, perhaps news of a freebie will: iflix is offering a free 14-day trial period. No need to share your credit card or payment details or anything. How about that? Swing by iflix’s website to sign up!
