Newborn baby dies after being left out in the rain

Why not just leave the baby at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)?

“On Tuesday, June 10, a newborn baby girl was found dead on a vacant lot in Barangay 86 in Caloocan City,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent Doland Castro on ABS-CBNnews.com.

According to the report, “the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached to her body, and her placenta was also found in the area.”

Residents claimed that they heard a baby crying early in the morning while it was raining.

Barangay officials traced a woman from one of the nearby houses. When they found her, she was still bleeding. She denied being the dead baby’s mother.

However, when she was brought to the barangay hall, the woman confessed that she had indeed left her daughter outside to die. She was brought to a hospital for treatment. The report didn’t say if she gave any reason why she left her child out in the rain to die.

The woman may be charged with parricide.
