SM Aura, the newest mall at the Fort, was the target of criticism again this week as photos of the mall’s leaky ceilings prompted jokes that it should isntead be called SM Aqua.
Aura, already battered on social media over its supposedly shady existence and for supposedly causing traffic at the Fort, earned comments from Internet “architects” that there were leaks because construction must have been rushed. One commenter on Facebook said Sarah Jessica Parker, whom SM invited to opening of the upscale mall, should come back for a swim.
Some netizens came to the defense of SM, however. “Why are you so bitter about SM? Don’t tell me you didn’s buy your school shoes there when you were a kid or didn’t go to megasales,” Facebook user Jill Santos said in Filipino. She added haters of the new mall can simply choose to stay away. “That’s what’s causing traffic. You go there just to complain,” she also said.
One has to wonder, though, how small this megacity really is to have so many people affected by something that sometimes happens when it rains.
