Because the Quezon City Police District headquarters isn’t a zoo, only animals that help in police work are allowed inside.
“Newly installed Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio prohibited animals from Camp Karingal, which houses the QCPD headquarters,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.
Apparently, Tinio had observed that livestock and pets like “goats, turkeys, ducks, chickens, and dogs” were roaming in the QCPD camp. In fact, he had seen stray dogs at the grandstand while a command activity was ongoing. Goats were also seen climbing on the grandstand’s stage during awarding ceremonies.
In a memorandum issued by camp commander Chief Inspector Benjamin Gabriel Jr., the owners of the animals were told to prevent them from “grazing, roaming, and defecating” in the camp.
If the animals aren’t taken by their owners, then they will be seized by the city government’s department of public order and safety. Moreover, “animal owners who fail to comply with the order will face charges for violating the animal welfare law.”
