On its Facebook page, Manila Bulletin posted two photos of the new e-passport design.

The first few pages, it says, will feature the “wings of PH cockatoo in national colors”. The constitution as well as the Lupang Hinirang are highlighted as well.

“It will be made of more durable and higher quality materials” and will have added security features to prevent fraud.

According to ABS-CBN meanwhile, “the visa pages will feature famous landmarks of the Philippine regions such as the Metro Manila skyline, the Mayon Volcano of Bicol, the Ifugao Rice Terraces of the Cordillera Region, among others.”

The report continues, “it will use the intaglio printing technique which is usually used in printing banknotes.”

PH-passport

So far, the new designs have gotten really mixed reviews, with no less than Carlos Celdran on his Facebook page calling it ugly — sorry, we meant ugliest. He called it “the ugliest passport design I have ever seen. Ever.”

But what do you think?

Dear COA and Philippine Government. This is what you get when you do your graphics in-house. THIS is the UGLIESTpassport…
