There’s nothing like a new coin to lock down one’s national hero status.
“Starting today, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will circulate new PHP10 coins commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of national hero Andres Bonifacio,” reports Maricel E. Burgonio on InterAksyon.com.
The Central Bank will mint 10 million pieces of the Bonifacio commemorative coin.
Though the coin has the same size and weight as the P10 coin already in circulation, it will have special markings. One side will have the markings “150 years,” “Republika ng Pilipinas,” and “2013.” The other features the BSP seal, Bonifacio’s signature, the Bonifacio monument, as well as the markings “150 years,” “1863-2013,” and the “Dangal ng Kabayanihan.”
