A two-year-old girl died after she was repeatedly slapped and pushed by her own mother inside their house in Barangay Giligahon in Siaton, Negros Oriental, police said Wed, Jul 29.
Based on initial investigation, “Joan” got angry after her daughter, “Trixie” refused to open her eyes so that her mother can put some medicine for her sore eyes.
Joan repeatedly slapped and pushed Trixie to the floor. The child was declared dead upon arrival at Siaton District Hospital. According to doctors, the child died of internal hemorrhage.
The suspect is currently detained at Siaton Police Station. Her husband has decided to continue filing charges against her.
The Women and Children’s Desk of Siaton Police Station said Joan is not suffering from any mental problems. She, however, was also a victim of abuse when she was a child.
Joan also admitted that she has the tendency to hurt people when she is very angry. —from a report by Annie Perez, ABS-CBN News
