The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is intensifying its checkpoint operations prior to the the May 13 elections.
Noting the increase in violent crimes prior to elections, NCRPO chief Director Leonardo Espina ordered pre-emptive measures – which include checkpoints – to prevent possible elections-related crimes.
Since the start of the gun ban on January 13, the NCRPO has confiscated more than 150 loose firearms, hand grenades and other deadly weapons at checkpoints, the Philippine Star reported.
