The weight loss industry has gotten so big that hordes of scam artists are now preying on it.
A woman named Rowena San Juan Sta. Ana has been going around pretending to be an agent of the Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre Philippines.”She has been selling bogus Cohen’s Lifestyle eating plans for PHP15,000 to unsuspecting clients,” reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
As the Cohen Diet is the hottest weight loss plan among celebrities right now, it’s presumed that a lot of people have been duped by Sta. Ana.
The Cohen’s Lifestyle Centre Philippines, which holds offices in Bonifacio Global City and Cebu, has filed a case with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). The company explained that it “has not assigned any individual or company to act as an agent of the company for the purpose of selling eating programs nor screening individuals to determine their suitability for Cohen’s program.”
The NBI is going after Sta. Ana for violating Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (Estafa) and Section 168 of the Intellectual Property Code.
The moral of this tale? Losing money is faster than losing weight.
