NBA player Pau Gasol asks for more help for Yolanda survivors

As part of his task as a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) ambassador, Chicago Bulls forward Pau Gasol appears in a new public service video calling for more donations and support for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda, which devastated the Visayas in November 2013.

In the video, Gasol says, “The work is far from complete. Yolanda devastated homes, infrastructure, and life. After a disaster of such rate, recovery and reconstruction for millions of people are not possible within a few months or even a year. It needs long term commitment. We still need your support for the children of the Philippines.”

Last year, when he was still with the Los Angeles Lakers, Gasol joined the kind souls who donated to Yolanda survivors when he pledged US$1,000 for each shot he made in a game against the Golden State Warriors. He ended up donating US$24,000 through UNICEF.
