The National track and field team is adding to the optimistic outlook for the Philippines in the coming Southeast Asian Games in Singapore this June.

“Athletics chief Philip Ella Juico boldly promised Tuesday eight gold medals for the Philippine track and field team in the 28th Southeast Asian Games,” reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Among those he mentioned are Archand Christian Bagsit for the 400 meters event, Eric Shaun Cray for the 400m hurdles; Henry Damil fr the long jump, the 3,000m steeplechase care of Christopher Ulboc, Jr.; and decathlete Jesson Ramil Cid.

He’s also relying on the 4x400m relay team, which won for the country 6 gold medals in the 2013 Burma games; as well as on Olympian Marestella Torres for the long jump and Filipino-American thrower Caleb Stuart.

With our sailing team eyeing 3 gold medals and the tennis team looking at 5, the Philippines is shaping up to be quite the winner.
