She’ll still be better off than most prisoners.
“Detained businesswoman and alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles was transferred by authorities late Monday night, July 28 to a regular detention cell in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.
According to the report, Napoles, escorted by a high-security convoy from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), arrived in the police camp past 11 p.m.
Napoles had been ordered transferred to a regular jail by the Sandiganbayan last Friday, July 25.
However, the transfer was delayed because Napoles’ lawyer Atty. Bruce Rivera said they were confused about which to follow—the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division or the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150, which had prior jurisdiction over Napoles.
Thus, Napoles stayed at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna while things were being sorted out.
Napoles is is facing charges of serious illegal detention, graft, and plunder.
Another pork barrel scam case personality, Atty. Gigi Reyes, is already detained at Camp Bagong Diwa.
Napoles had been staying at Fort Sto. Domingo since September 1, 2013, shortly after she surrendered to President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
