Some 200 lawmen are facing the prospect of removal from service over alleged dishonesty during entrance examinations for the police force, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) said Sunday.
“We’ve discovered more than 200 [policemen] with what is called statistical improbability as to why they have all the same correct and incorrect answers,” Napolcom vice chairman Atty. Rogelio Casurao told DZMM in Filipino.
“We issued a circular voiding their eligibility.”
A number of policemen are also set to face the ax for falsifying documentary requirements to enter the police force, Casurao added.
“Now we’ve caught a lot even after serving the PNP (Philippine National Police) for 10 years, 15 years. We discovered that after all [those years], they submitted fake documents,” he said.
Casurao said he is pushing for periodic audit, neurological tests and retraining for policemen to ensure they are fit for public service.
All police officers in Caloocan City were relieved Friday and ordered to undergo retraining following the killings of at least 2 minors in anti-drug operations and a robbery incident during a police operation.
