Nancy Binay on Alan Peter Cayetano being her new Senate seatmate: ‘Naloloka ako!’

It’s just not his week.

On Mon, Jul 25, as reports confirmed that Senator Koko Pimentel had gotten the top spot in the Senate via a 20-3 vote, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano was noticeably absent at the opening of the session of the 17th Congress.

People speculated that Cayetano was feeling down about losing the top spot at the Senate. He himself more or less confirmed it when he posted statement on his Facebook page entitled, “Losing what was never mine.”

In any case, Cayetano showed up at President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) later that same day.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll recall that Cayetano was Duterte’s running mate and that he fought hard to distinguish himself from the other contenders for vice president.

Perhaps, in anticipation of his VP run, Cayetano became one of former VP Jejomar Binay’s toughest critics.

In fact, in one report, Cayetano had this to say about the then-VP: “He’s in panic mode. Like someone gasping for breath. He’s trying to read all the political books and all the strategies used by other politicians, and applying them to himself, although they do not apply.”

On Tue, Jul 26, Cayetano’s anti-Binay moves came back to haunt him…in a manner of speaking.

It turns out that Cayetano’s Senate seatmate is none other than the former VP’s daughter, Senator Nancy Binay.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer (via its Twitter page), Nancy reacted with these words when she was told of the new seating arrangement: “Naloloka ako (I’m going crazy).”

Then again, maybe Cayetano will take that as a compliment?

Besides, we thought things were fine between these two. They did share a hug back in 2014.
