The Department of Transportation and Communications expects Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport to be fully operational by August 2014.
In a statement, the department said it has reached an agreement with Takenaka Corp. of Japan to complete work on Terminal 3. “ These works include baggage handling, flight information displays, computer terminals, gate coordination, and fire protection systems, among others,” the DOTC said.
Once completed, Terminal 3 will have an annual capacity of 13 million passengers.
In the meantime, the DOTC is installing a CNS/ATM (Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management) System. The government is also bidding out an upgraded Night Landing Operations Project, and an upgrade of airfield lighting and power supply systems for all airports in the country.
