Emergency pavement repairs at Manila’s international airport have affected several domestic and international Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flights today, Jul 18, and Tue, Jul 19.

According to an advisory posted on Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Facebook page at around 4pm today, the immediate temporary closure is due “to a soft spot in main Runway 06/24 to avoid damage to aircraft.”

“Expected flight diversions until on or about 10 pm today. Flights using aircraft A320 and below may use Runway 13/31 for flight operations. MIAA now determining number of flights to be affected. Incoming GM Monreal on site with MIAA Operations and Engineering Teams to see extent of damage,” it said.

According to newly assigned Transportation Department spokesperson Cherie Mercado, 96 flights are affected, both arrival and departure, including general aviation.

Cebu Pacific says its passengers are advised to expect flight cancellations and delays today and tomorrow. So far, flights to Davao, Sydney and Doha have been affected.

Cebu Pacific passengers can rebook their flights for travel within 30 days, opt for full refund or travel fund — with no penalty charge.
