It’s a damn shame that it’s called the world’s worst airport—because there are good people working there.

“The culture of honesty has continued at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as another employee returned Australian dollars left behind by a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW),” reports Raoul Esperas on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Corporal Reynon Flores of the Airport Police Intelligence and Investigation Division revealed that the driver is Genelito Macaraig of the Airport Shuttle Service Inc. (ASSI).

Macaraig had driven a group of returning OFWs from NAIA Terminal 1. He dropped them off at their respective destinations. However, when he was on his way back to the airport, he noticed a bag inside the vehicle. When he opened it, he saw Asutralian bills worth AUS$1,000. The bag contained some identification so they were later able to call the its owner’s number.

Get this: The said owner seems to trust NAIA officials so much that he reportedly said since he was already on his way to Benguet, he would just retrieve the money when he comes back on Sunday, March 2.

When asked to comment on his good deed, Macaraig simply said, “Nakaluluwag po ng damdamin ng malaman na maisasauli po ang pera dahil alam ko po ang hirap para kumita ng pera (I feel good about that I have returned the money because I know how hard it is to wor for it).”

For the record, Macaraig, who’s married and has three children, earns a minimum of PHP200 per day.
