Hopefully, bird strikes will no longer happen at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“On Monday, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) unveiled several modern equipment to help NAIA meet international standards,” reports Eric B. Apolonio on InterAksyon.com. The bird dispersal devices cost PHP40 million each.
Aside from modern firetrucks that can discharge water at a 90-meter range and shuttle buses, also commissioned three bird dispersal devices. With a one-kilometer range, these devices help to frighten birds away so they won’t get in the way of airplanes’ flight paths.
According to the report, “the bird dispersal hyper spike audio devices feature 300 different high-powered amplifier sounds to scare birds away and thereby avoid disrupting planes mounting flights to and from the airport.”
