After waiting so many years for these improvements, what’s a few more months?

“Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya on Tuesday, December 16, checked on the status of the on-going rehabilitation of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Terminal 1, which was previously tagged as the ‘world’s worst airport,'” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “The rehabilitation project, worth P1.3 billion, started January this year and was initially planned to be completed January 2015. But the target for the completion of the rehab project has been pushed back to March 2015.”

According to the report, “the completion date has been delayed due to the delivery of materials/equipment and unresolved technical issues which were only discovered during rehabilitation.”

Meanwhile, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Vicente Guerzon Jr. added that the “retrofitting and upgrade of Terminal 1 is at 40 percent and will be 95% complete by March.”
Guerzon said that, by then, “the remaining 5% would just be technical issues which will not greatly affect the terminal’s operation.”

Guerzon likewise assured the public that the contractor, DMCI, can complete it on the target date.
