An explosion at the upscale Serendra development in Bonifacio Global City last night killed six people and injured five.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council today said the dead included three unidentified men in Unit 501 of Two Serendra, where the blast occurred, and three unidentified passengers in an Abenson delivery van that was hit by debris.
“Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the explosion,” said Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr., commander of the Civil Military Operations Group (CMOG) of the Philippine Army.
Five passengers in a Hyundai Starex van, including a nine-year-old girl, were also injured by flying debris and rushed to nearby St. Lukes Medical Center.
The NDRRMC initially reported that only three were killed in the explosion, but doubled that number in an announcement today.
The cause of the blast is still undetermined.
DILG Secretary Mar Roxas said it was too early to say whether the blast was caused by a bombing, a gas leak, or some sort of combustion.
Serendra developer Ayala Land Inc. said that it was cooperating with fire and police investigators, InterAksyon reported.
