MANILA, Philippines – Former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Myrtle Sarrosa will take on a new role when the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) formally opens its 91st season this Saturday.
The cosplayer and TV personality will be one of the league’s courtside reporters.
“Kasi nagbabalik Kapamilya na ang NCAA,” Sarrosa told Mei Lin Lozada in a report for sports website Spin.
The oldest collegiate league in the country recently returned to ABS-CBN after ending its contract with TV5. The new partnership will last for 10 years.
Sarrosa said the broadcast team was looking for personalities who will attract the youth.
“Kasi parang sa statistics, it really shows na ‘yung audience ng NCAA is much younger, puro students… So they asked me, ‘Myrtle, would you like to host?’ They asked me to audition tapos sobrang blessed ko kasi nakuha ko siya,” she narrated.
After winning “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4” in 2012, the young Ilongga pursued a career in showbiz and even became a cover girl for men’s magazine FHM. She’s also the official video jock for Hero TV and a feature host on “Umagang kay Ganda.”
Myrtle, now 20, is currently a broadcasting major at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
“This is really different naman and I hope I can prove to them na tama ang decision nila for choosing me,” she said.
