The free life isn’t as glamorous as it’s touted to be — at least for this one guy.
Napoleon Sabio, a convicted murderer who escaped from a jail in Bacolod City in 2002, surrendered at the Manila Police District headquarters on Jan 4. He was accompanied by his mother.
“Sabio said he turned himself in because he was hungry and bored most of the time and could not get even the most menial jobs,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star. He related that after he escaped from the detention facility in 2002, he found his way to Taguig and lived with his relatives, who later drove him away.
“Sabio said that behind bars, he would get three square meals a day and be safe because he is guarded day and night,” the report noted.
