Muntinlupa inaugurates its first fish sanctuary

In this case, the phrase, “something smells fishy,” becomes positive.

“Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and General Manager Nereus Acosta of the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) led the launching of the city’s 2,500 square-meter fish sanctuary, which is located in Barangay Bayanan,” reports Jonathan Hicap in Manila Bulletin.

The report said “almost 1,500 fishermen in Muntinlupa will benefit from the newly inaugurated first Muntinlupa fish sanctuary.”

As part of the fish sanctuary’s inauguration, the first batch of 200,000 red tilapia fingerlings were distributed to the eight shoreline barangays: Sucat, Buli, Cupang, Alabang, Bayanan, Putatan, Poblacion, and Tunasan.

The report added: “The fishpen share of Muntinlupa amounting to PHP2.8 million was also awarded.”
