Tue, Dec 6, was an especially glitch-filled day for the 17-year-old Metro Rail Transit (MRT).
“For starters, 10 commuters were injured yesterday morning after an escalator at the rail line’s Taft Avenue station malfunctioned as it was descending,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.
According to MRT general manager Deo Manalo, the commuters were hurt when the escalator suddenly stopped. He added that they only suffered “minor injuries” and were released after they were given first aid.
The report noted: “The MRT said that they are looking into the cause of the escalator’s malfunction. The escalator has since been repaired.”
At 6:37am that day, MRT commuters were forced to get off the train at the Santolan Annapolis station due to a still undetermined technical problem.
Then, at 9:08 another glitch forced a train to stop at the Boni Avenue station.
