MRT extends contract of maintenance provider

The price tag for this move will make you cry.

“The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has extended the contract of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3’s current maintenance provider Autre Porte Technique Global Inc. (APT Global) while it is looking for a new one,” reports Miguel R. Camus in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

DOTC spokesperson Michael Sagcal explained, “The term of APT Global’s extended services is on a month-to-month basis. It may be terminated at the DOTC’s option any time after two weeks from September 4.”

Here’s the most painful part: Sagcal added that APT Global would continue to be paid PHP57 million every month for its services.

That’s right. We’re paying millions each month even as we have to put up with numerous technical horrors.
