MRT exec lists 3 reasons why trains break down often

Tell us something we don’t know.

“In a radio interview with Punto Asintado hosts Erwin Tulfo and Martin Andanar, Metro Rail Transit (MRT) spokesperson Atty. Hernando Cabrera listed three factors for the frequent breakdowns of the MRT-3,” reports InterAksyon.com.

Cabrera cited the following reasons:

1. Overloading. “It’s a major factor behind the sub-par performance of the MRT, in contrast to the LRT Lines 1 and 2,” Cabrera stated.

2. Rehab and retrofitting needed. Cabrarar pointed out that “the trains are due for rehabilitation, with the last such retrofitting being done eight years ago.”

3. Maintenance woes. According to Cabrera, “there’s an urgent need to vigilantly attend to its maintenance problems.”

So, the question remains: What the heck happens now?
