We don’t know about you guys but this doesn’t seem like the most professional way to settle problems on the road.

Facebook user Albert Bugarin shared a now-viral video on Wednesday of a female Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer throwing insults at him while on the road in EDSA Kamuning in Quezon City.

Bugarin wrote in Filipino: “You be the judge of this woman. She wasn’t even the one who caught me.. She still wasn’t content and had to bully me.”

In the video, viewers can see the lady enforcer taking a video of Bugarin as he does the same thing. “Why are you putting [your phone] inside [the car]?” Bugarin can be heard telling the enforcer.

The 1-minute video shows Bugarin and the enforcer he called “Vergara” arguing until the latter started saying repeatedly: “Your face is so ugly.”

“You’re ugly and you’re rude,” she says in Filipino.

Radio station RMN reported that according to Bugarin, he was stopped by an enforcer after going to the yellow lane in EDSA Kamuning. The yellow lane along EDSA is only allowed for buses, jeeps, and UV express vehicles. Private vehicles can only enter the yellow lane 100 meters before their exit.

Bugarin added that he immediately obeyed the process, but he said the enforcer suddenly swooped in, took a video of him and insulted him.

The same report stated that Bugarin doesn’t plan on filing charges against her but he wants the public to know what she did to him.

MMDA Spokesperson Celina Pialago also said in a statement reported by The Philippine Daily Inquirer that they hope the viral video “will serve as a reminder to our enforcers to practice and observe the highest degree of restraint in situations like this.”

“Even though you are provoked or insulted, public officers/officials should always keep their emotions intact at all times. Like any other viral videos there will always be two sides of the story but that doesn’t mean that we will tolerate such act,” Pialago said, reported by Remate.

The video had over 649,000 views, 11,300 shares and 6,300 reactions as of this article’s posting. Netizens weighed in on the incident:

Facebook user Rebecca Decasa-magsalay said it was “very unprofessional.”

Lester Magadia wrote, “You are the one in charge of the law… But you are not worthy of respect. You are very unprofessional, promise.”

Alexa Gwynette Avila said on the other hand that netizens don’t know the whole story: “First of all, we don’t know what really happened, the enforcer wouldn’t do that if the driver didn’t really do anything.”

Reynold Lim Jr told people not to judge if they didn’t know what really happened.
