The body of a woman riding on the back of a motorcycle was cut in half by a 14-wheeler truck after a road collision in Manila yesterday morning.

The woman has been identified by authorities as 34-year-old Ederlyn Buclares, who was riding pillion on a Honda motorcycle driven by a man named Julius Tevara, The Philippine Star reported. Both are residents of Tondo, Manila.

They were hit by a car on the intersection of Alfredo Mendoza St. and Quezon Blvd. near Quiapo, Manila at around 5:30am, according to Manila Bulletin.

The collision led to Buclares flying off the motorcycle and towards the path of a 14-wheeler truck driven by a Reynan Fajardo. The truck driver said that it was then too late for him to hit the brakes. His vehicle ended up running over the woman, which cut her body in half. The top part of her body was reportedly under the front wheel, while the lower half was found at the rear.

Fajardo was brought to the police station while the still unidentified car driver fled the scene, GMA News reported.

Buclares died on the spot while Tevara was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
