Can the Pope help in this matter?
“The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) leadership joined the Catholic world in welcoming the visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines, hoping even for Papal words on the Mindanao peace process that may help hasten the implementation of MILF-government initiatives,” reports Ali Macabalang in Tempo.
In a gathering with some journalists in Camp Darapanan, the bailiwick of the group, MILF Chair Al Hadj Murad Ebrahim, said, “We join the Christian Filipinos in the coming of Pope. We know the Pope’s visit is important and meaningful.”
The report noted: “Ebrahim said the MILF and the Bangsamoro people believe the Papal visit could help buoy and fast-track the attainment of peace in Mindanao and the whole country.”
Ebrahim added that the head of the Darul Ifta (Muslim House of Opinion) will represent the MILF during the visit of the Pope.
