Sadly, there may be more people injured as the procession progresses.
“More than 50 people were reported injured during the procession of the image of the Black Nazarene or traslacion on Thursday morning, Jan 9,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.
Some devotees suffered form dizziness, while others sustained minor injuries on the head and feet. One devotee was rushed to a hospital after one of his toes was crushed by the wheels of a carriages with replicas of the the Black Nazarene.
The injured devotees were treated at the first aid stations set up by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and other volunteer organizations. The report revealed that “the PRC has set up 15 medical stations along the routes of the procession.”
