The animal went bananas. The report didn’t say, though, if it had been kept as a pet by someone in the neighborhood.

“At least five people were bitten by a wild monkey that ran amok on Thursday night, March 26, in Quezon Hill Extension, Baguio City,” reports Zaida delos Reyes-Palanca on Journal Online.

A report identified three of the victims: Danilo Cagais, 37; Rogelio Bautista, 63 and Richard Dako, 22, all residents of San Carlos Heights, Baguio City. They were rushed to the hospital along with two others and are now said to be in stable condition.

The report noted: “The victims had earlier caught the monkey for running wild and after it had bitten people and dogs. However, the animal managed to escape and bite them. Thankfully, despite their injuries, they managed to catch the monkey again.”

But the “monkey business” didn’t stop there.

The monkey will be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
